Coalition for Improving Living Conditions in Bulgaria
The Shelter for Humanity Foundation (Habitat Bulgaria) is a national organization of Habitat for Humanity International, a global organization working in over 90 countries around the world on housing issues and crisis response. Since its founding in 1976, the organization has built and repaired over 850,000 homes worldwide and has provided modest, affordable homes for more than 4 million people. Through its activities, Habitat Bulgaria has promoted the idea of adequate housing conditions as a basic human right and works to raise awareness of the society towards the elimination of housing poverty.
In fulfillment of its goals, Habitat Bulgaria has implemented the project “Worthy Home” – establishing a coalition to fight poor housing conditions “. The project aims to contribute to strengthening the role of civil society organizations in decision-making in the field of housing policy and in enhancing their capacity to carry out advocacy work on housing issues. The main activity of the project is the establishment of a national coalition for improving the housing conditions in Bulgaria. An advocacy strategy that the Coalition will follow in the next years of its existence will also be developed within the project. Day-long training for local organizations on housing issues and advocacy will take place. The Coalition will initiate a broad public discussion with responsible institutions and stakeholders to improve housing policy in the country.
